Me (posing) with my trusty old Washburn WI66 PRO. I've had this guitar since 2010 and it's been modified numerous times. It's a real survivor. It's been through alot since I got it and It's a miracle it is still playable. It's been my go-to guitar for years even though I have other guitars that's just as good or perhaps better. I also have two more WI66 PRO's from the early 2000's. One deep-wine red one, equipped with Seymour Duncan Custom Custom SH-11 humbuckers, same as Eddie Van Halen once used that I only use for solo's and stuff. It's heavy and reminds me a lot about a Gibson Les Paul Custom and with a huge warm and woody tone. The third one is a Gold Top model with Wilkinson P90's. Also a great guitar. (I will review that one later because it also is very special to me). Now, lovin' 'em all but the black WI66 PRO is “THE GUITAR”. Last modified with Tonerider pickups, Hipshot Grip-lock tuners, Dietrich String Butler, TonePros Tune-o-Matic Roller Bridge, bone nut made of reindeer antlers, stainless steel frets and top notch electronics put together by Edmire Music in Tromsø, Norway. Ed at Edmire Music also did the neck and fretwork on my guitar and now it plays and feels fantastic. It was a rather cheap guitar when it hit the market back in 2004 but to me it's priceless. I fell for it immediately when I saw it the first time. It looked like a combination of a Fender Telecaster, Gibson Les Paul with elements of an SG. It simply looked modern and classic at the same time. At some point I started collecting WI66 PRO's but when I got to number three, I stopped. Three was enough but you never know, if I stumble upon a copy that looks too beautiful and tempting to avoid, I will consider buying it. I forgot to mention the Batman and star metal chrome emblem behind the tailpiece. I put it there because I wanted something similar to the vintage "Cloud" emblems Ibanez used to put on some of their special LP 70's and 80's models. I think it's a cool detail and very decorative too. Ordered from Ebay for cheap. Also, there's a metal truss rod cover, switch washer and headbutz from Hellparts on this guitar. Cool stuff.
